Our Story

Quality Financial Concepts (QFC) was founded in Dallas, Texas, in 1983 by James D. (Doug) Horn, who launched the firm with an initial focus on tax planning, tax preparation and accounting services. Recognizing early on that his clients would also benefit from retirement planning, investment management and insurance protection, Doug transformed QFC into a full-service financial-advisory firm in 1987.

In 2001, Doug relocated to the foothills of Tennessee’s Great Smoky Mountains, where he and his wife, Teresa, set up QFC’s current headquarters in downtown Maryville, completely renovating a historic building that dates back to the 1860s.

Today, Doug and his team of advisors, accountants and support staff still offer a full slate of financial services. Whether it’s sitting down face to face with local investment-management clients or utilizing technology and travel to service those around the country, QFC remains dedicated to helping all its clients work towards their financial and lifestyle goals.
