Where It All Started

Celebrating 26 years of service to the community, Quality Financial Concepts (QFC) was founded in March of 1983 in Dallas, Texas by Doug Horn. Prior to founding QFC, Doug worked for a national accounting firm and for a small entrepreneurial oil and gas firm. Through this experience, Doug developed tremendous tax expertise that he uses to benefit his clients today.
With the establishment of his own firm, Doug specialized in tax planning, tax preparation, and accounting services, but it did not take long to recognize his clients had additional needs like retirement planning, investment management and insurance protection. Various business relationships were created, and his clients were encouraged to work with other professionals to address these financial needs. However, after several years of referring clients to stockbrokers, insurance agents, and attorneys, it became apparent most were not following through on these referrals. So, QFC added these and other services in-house to better serve his clients.
In 1987, QFC became a full-service financial advisory firm with the addition of securities, insurance, and estate planning. As the years have passed, these advanced financial services have become the main area of focus; however, tax planning remains a distinguishing factor in all of the firm’s financial recommendations and in our client's success.
While assisting many clients to develop their ideal lifestyle, Doug applied the same process to his firm. This resulted in the move to Maryville, Tennessee in August of 2001. Doug and Teresa purchased what had been known as the Emery Five and Dime building dating back to the late 1860's. After a total renovation of this downtown property as QFC's headquarters, clients are served across the country with the use of technology and frequent travel.
